Testing: SAT, ACT, PSAT, AP

Many colleges and universities are test optional, or may not even consider test scores if submitted. Some colleges and universities may consider test scores, or require them for certain majors. Check with each prospective college to confirm its testing requirements. San Rafael City Schools will offer the PSAT to 10th and 11th grade students in October, 2023. See this link for information about SAT and ACT testing in Terra Linda and San Rafael high schools this year.

  • University of California & California State University will not consider SAT/ACT when making admissions decisions or awarding scholarships.

Students who are planning to attend community college after high school are not required to complete the ACT or SAT. Placement in community college courses is typically based on performance in senior year classes.
