College & Career Center

Terra Linda High School's College and Career Center is staffed by Ivan Diaz, Marisa Ramia Bacon, and Brad Ward.

Brad and Marisa will handle the various aspects of TL students’ college search and application process, such as building college lists, reading applications and essays, assisting with financial aid and scholarships, composing a resumé, and preparing for interviews.  They will also share responsibility for outreach to colleges, coordinating the annual college admissions rep visits for September and October, data analytics, CCC newsletters, and managing the CCC website.

Additionally, Marisa will coordinate work permits, job opportunities, volunteering, fee waivers for the ACT and SAT, California Scholarship Federation (CSF) activities, career and technical education (including the annual Career and Technical Education college fair), Awards Night, and the Walker Creek outdoors ed program.

Students and parents should feel free to email either Brad ( or Marisa ( for assistance with their college process - unlike with TL’s three Counselors, for college counseling we will not assign students alphabetically - while for jobs, volunteering, career/technical education, fee waivers, CSF, and Walker Creek, Marisa will be the sole contact.

Meanwhile, Ivan Diaz coordinates TL's internship program.  Mr. Diaz can be reached at

News From the CCC!

The Common Application for the Class of 2020 is available through about the end of May. You can open up your application here.  The Class of 2021 may open Common App account sometime in January; we will announce when this is possible.

The UC and CSU applications for the Class of 2020 are closed.  The UC application for the Class of 2021 will open on or about August 1, 2020, and the CSU application for the Class of 2021 will open on or about October 1, 2020.

Early Action 2 and Early Decision 2 deadlines for 4-year colleges are mostly January 1 and January 15.  Early Action is a great way to be admitted to a college or colleges by mid-December, but not have to commit until May 1 if you want to keep your options open!  Pay attention to your colleges' deadlines, so you do not miss any!

College admissions rep visits have concluded for the year!  Visits from college admissions representatives from about 100 colleges around the country have concluded for the year!  They will resume in September and October!

Financial Aid: Fill out either the FAFSA or Dream Act (not both) - which could make you eligible for CalGrant funds if you will be attending a California college - as well as the CSS Profile.  The deadline is March 2, but the earlier you fill these out and submit them, the more funds are available.
